Birdwatching on Öland

Öland lies on the migration route of a large part of northern Europe’s bird population. Tens of thousands of birds pass the island each spring and autumn, and the alvar limestone heath holds breeding species that are hard to see anywhere else in the country.

From Löt you can be out in the Mittlandsskogen woods in a quarter of an hour and at Beijershamn in just under an hour. Ottenby bird observatory, on the island’s southern tip, is about an hour and a half away. Many of our guests come here for the birds and set off before breakfast.
